Azusa Street Online

A short message about Azusa Street Online

The Holy Spirit kept me up all night, speaking to me about the outpouring of God that is on the way. He kept saying “Azusa Street Online.” Here is what God has revealed:

Azusa Street was one of the biggest movements of God which impacted the entire world and it is coming again, this time across the world. It wasn’t a glamorous production. It began as a home group, then expanded to the front porch which collapsed from overcrowding.

They finally found an old church building they could afford to rent at the end of a dead-end street called Azusa. Plaster was falling off the walls and stuff littered the ground of the broken down church. They cleaned as much as they could and made benches out of rough lumber: it wasn’t fancy but it was a roof over their heads: it had low, eight-foot rafters and bare floors.

The leader was William Seymour. There were no equal rights and segregation between white people and African Americans still existed. Seymour had a heart for God and was willing to do whatever God told him to - this is what mattered. God chose one of the least to lead the way for many.

This was where God chose to pour out His Spirit to His children in many denominations. There are many books written about this outpouring, however, we will only talk about one aspect of this outpouring from God.

Letting the Spirit Flow

Most churches today have become very organized. We have 2-3 fast songs to get people awake and 2-3 slow songs. One person speaks: the pastor or a guest. We know exactly how long we will be in church: there is usually a second crowd that follows, so everything is on schedule. In essence, we have put God in a box we have created, then we wonder why His movements are limited.

At Azusa Street, it wasn’t this way.
No instruments of music are used. None are needed. No choir- the angels have been heard by some in the spirit. No collections are taken. No bills have been posted to advertise the meetings. No church organization is back of it. All who are in touch with God realize as soon as they enter the meetings that the Holy Ghost is the leader.

The Holy Spirit broke down the denominational walls and the rigid rules of society. The  Apostolic Faith publication spoke about this in its first edition:
Proud, well-dressed preachers came to "investigate". Soon their high looks were replaced with wonder, then conviction comes, and very often you will find them in a short time wallowing on the dirty floor, asking God to forgive them and make them as little children.

There were key aspects to this outpouring which the Holy Spirit brought to me:
  • Singing was sporadic and in acappella or occasionally there would be singing in tongues.
  • This allows the Spirit to move people and honor God.
  • Visitors gave their testimony, and members read aloud testimonies that were sent to the mission by mail.
  • This is worshiping God by proclaiming what He has done.
  • There was spontaneous preaching.
  • This allows God to speak as He wills.
  • Seymour led most services however, worshippers come forward to preach or testify as they were led by the Holy Spirit. A leader is necessary, however the leader shouldn’t be the only one speaking.
  • If someone stepped forward to speak, not led by the Spirit, they were quickly removed.
  • Judgement of what is said is necessary.
  • There was a receptacle to hold offerings for anyone who wanted to support the revival. Giving back when we see God moving is critical!
These things are what is missing from most church services. If we want God to have His way, we must allow the Spirit to control our times of fellowship. The Holy Spirit was very clear as He spoke to me: We can have Azusa Street Online if we are willing to do it His way! The Holy Spirit will fill each room where His children are focusing on Him! In the spirit realm, we are all before the throne together, united in our worship of Him… and He will move into where we are.

How it Looks Online

At Agape Christian Fellowship our weekly meetings are at the front porch gathering stage. We are pressing in to learn to let God have His way.

Here is what the Lord is leading us to do:
  • Communion - We begin by taking communion. This declared what our Lord has done and that we are one: His body. It is a truly non-denominational meeting.
  • Free-style praise - We begin by praising Him, then let the Holy Spirit bring forth songs: often just the chorus. Here is an example of how freestyle praise is done:

  • Talking about God - A message comes forth and we discuss it.
  • Prayer and Praise around the clock - We have a prayer team that helps God’s people get free through the Courts of Heaven. The Lord has brought us to have a time of praise and worship during these prayer sessions.
  • Testimonies - We are working on declaring the testimonies: many are given in writing.
  •  People are free to come and go as their time allows.

As of 2019 this is the loose organization of our gathering: the elements we feel the Lord wants us to have. They are not hard and fast rules. We are ready to accept the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit: He will have His way in these meetings.

If you would like to come and learn to follow the Holy Spirit, I hope you will join us in the Agape Fellowship meetings.

in the Courts of Heaven

Many people think of boot camp as a place you train for combat. Any veteran will tell you that basic training is about three things:
  • Knowing what weapons are available
  • Learning how to use those weapons
  • Receiving orders and following them
Believer’s Boot Camp series is a collection of books which teach us how to hear more clearly from God with the goal to ready ourselves for a face-to-face meeting with our Lord, Jesus. The series reveals the “weapons and tools” God has given us and how to use them, so we can bring God’s kingdom to Earth. Each book in the series focuses on a single topic to clearly define one tool or weapon from our Heavenly Father.

The series uses the Word of God to reveal all that He has given us through Jesus. The Bible is our instruction manual and the Holy Spirit is our guide to understanding it.

Volume 1: Why Doesn't God Speak to Me?

Eager hearts cry out, hoping for a single word to confirm that He hears us. Yet, many times the only sound is silence. Over the years I have heard several reasons why God speaks to some and not to others. One night, as I tossed and turned, I brought each of these reasons before the Lord, stating why each of them did not line up with who I thought He was.

Words rose from my soul, pleading for Him to reveal why He has remained silent when a single word from Him would mean so much to so many. For the next few hours, God used things I learned about years ago and things I had just discovered to show why He talks to some and why He doesn’t, and in demonstrative ways.

In His grace, He also showed me how people could hear more from Him. Basic instructions on how to hear more from God and how to be led by Him are included in this book. Thank you for taking time to consider the answers I received and share with you now.

Keys to Authority for Every Believer

There is untapped power that is easy for every Christian to access in the form of authority. The keys to this authority will unlock weapons we can use to free ourselves from the attacks of the enemy. We must be intimately aware of the bounds and limitations of our weapon if they are to be used effectively.

Find out about your authority:
  • Why you need it.
  • Where it comes from.
  • What you can do with it.
  • How to get more.
