Babylon, the 1000 Year Reign and New Jerusalem

Babylon, the 1000 Year Reign and New Jerusalem Meeting

So far we have placed the following events in this order according to what the Bible says:

Breaking of the Seals: Appearing of the Antichrist may happen before the Tribulation
Signing of a Seven Year Agreement - The predicted Tribulation, also known as Daniel’s Week
Broken into two parts consisting of 3.5 years

First Half of the Tribulation - 3.5 years

     Six Seals are broken
Two Witnesses prophecy and declare plagues
Two Witnesses are killed after 3.5 years in Jerusalem

Second Half of the Daniel’s Week: Great Tribulation

Antichrist stops sacrifices in the Temple of God and declares himself to be God
     Seventh Seal Broken
     144,000 are sealed for God
Some are killed for not worshiping the Beast
     Trumpets begin
Two Witnesses rise at the sixth Trumpet

After the Tribulation

Rapture: check churches to see if you will be one of them
(Could happen as the Two Witnesses rise)
All are killed if they do not accept the mark of the Beast and worship the Beast to buy or sell
Blessed are those who are beheaded for staying true to Jesus
Wrath of God is poured out

These are the events we can place around the Tribulation Week. There is a “fall of Babylon” that is spoken of, but it is hard to say when exactly that will take place.

Fall of Babylon

And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying to me, Come here; I will show to you the judgment of the great whore that sits on many waters: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication… (Revelation 17:1-2 AKJV)

The angel began by saying, “Come here.” This is not the same as saying “after this I saw...” An angel is merely revealing something that may have happened already. Just because this revelation is from an angel who had a vial of wrath, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it will necessarily happen after the wrath is poured out, only that it is revealed after John witnesses the wrath. For this reason, when this event occurs, it is very hard to determine, though many details about it are given over the next two chapters.

And he said to me, The waters which you saw, where the whore sits, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. (Revelation 17:15 AKJV)

And the woman which you saw is that great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth. (Revelation 17:18 AKJV)

Jerusalem was often referred to as a woman in the Old Testament. (Amos 5:2, Isaiah 37:22) The woman mentioned in the opening scripture is actually a city who leads people into sin and the waters are many nations and peoples who are being influenced by this city.

And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. For God has put in their hearts to fulfill his will… (Revelation 17:16-17 AKJV)

The leaders empowered by Satan will hate a city and attack it, but this is God’s will. Fire will be part of that destruction. What could cause Him to bring desolation unto an entire city?

He has judged (convicted, pronounced sentence, and doomed) the great and notorious harlot (idolatress) who corrupted and demoralized and poisoned the earth with her lewdness and adultery (idolatry) (Revelation 19:2 AMPC)

This is a place of great influence that has caused many nations to fall into “fornication” which is idolatry: placing other desires above God. The Greek word megas translated “notorious” can mean things esteemed highly for their importance: of great moment, of great weight, importance. “Poisoned the earth” could be literal toxic waste or it may be metaphorically influencing the morality of mankind with entertainment centered around sin.
And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk the wine of her passionate unchastity, and the rulers and leaders of the earth have joined with her in committing fornication (idolatry), and the businessmen of the earth have become rich with the wealth of her excessive luxury and wantonness. (Revelation 18:2-3 AKJV)
Another name for the city is “Babylon the great,” we know this because the qualities that follow this name are the same as the “great whore” from the previous chapter. This well known metropolis has great influence and importance upon the earth. It is a city where businessmen become rich.
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that you be not partakers of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues. (Revelation 18:4 AKJV)
Christians are given a strong warning: we need to know what city this is and flee this city or else we may be affected by the plagues or punishment God releases. Just as Lot was warned to flee Sodom before the destruction, God is telling us to do the same!

Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judges her. And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall mourn her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning. (Revelation 18:8-9 AKJV)

The space of “a day” may not represent 24 hours since days often represent years in this particular book, it may actually be a year. Four distinct calamities will come in a relatively short space of time:

death which will be most likely from an attack from the heads of the Beast
     morning for the lost
     famine
     fire

Extremely detailed descriptions leave no doubt that the effects are not metaphorical. The loss of this single city will affect merchants of the earth who can no longer sell their goods including: Money (gold and silver), jewels (gems and pearls), clothing (cloth), created merchandise (wood and stone vessels), food (wheat, beasts, sheep), and even the body and souls of men (work forces).  (Revelation 18:11-13)

This could be what gives the Antichrist the ability to force everyone into only buying and selling with the mark of the Beast. Once the world economy collapses, it is ready for him to move in with a new form of money, most likely electronic money.

And the fruits that your soul lusted after are departed from you, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from you, and you shall find them no more at all… And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like to this great city! (Revelation 18:14 &18)

The destruction will be a hardship for businesses of every kind and many will be overcome with grief when it is destroyed. What city is God speaking of? It is a “great city” with no equal, so this narrows it down a bit. There are two distinct possibilities:

  1. Rome
This city has been ranked in the top 40 cities and it has one attribute that many others do not have:

And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all those who have been slain (slaughtered) on earth. (Revelation 18:24 AMPC)

Rome was involved when Jesus and the disciples were killed and I believe will be involved in the support of the Antichrist with the mark of the Beast. This leads me to think that perhaps it will be Rome despite it not being the biggest of cities.

  1. New York
It is ranked number one in the Global Cities Index. It is the most influential city in the world. It fits all of the attributes above.

According to scripture, we can be responsible for the blood of others by supporting those who are doing the killing. “In her was found” is the Greek word heyriskō which may imply “to be discovered, recognized, detected, to show oneself out, of one's character or state as found out by others (men, God, or both).” In other words, it is directly connected but by careful examination you see the truth of it. Could it be that the Stock Market and other types of financial support cause New York to be held responsible for all the blood that is spilled?

The next chapter, however, begins by saying, “after this,” and showing a great rejoicing in Heaven. We have no real way of knowing how much time has lapsed between the wrath and the fall of Babylon, only that this is the next big event.

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife has made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. (Revelation 19:7-8 AMPC AKJV)

We now know that the Bride has been in Heaven during the vials of wrath. This means that she “made herself ready,” refers to a time of preparation in Heaven before the actual wedding. We can also deduce that after “the great city” falls, it is no longer possible to be part of the Bride of Christ. All hope is not lost though, for we see that you may still have a part in Heaven:

And he said to me, Write, Blessed are they which are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb. (Revelation 19:9 AKJV)

It seems that you can still earn an invitation to the wedding, even if you are not part of the Bride who has undergone a time of preparation!

And I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from now on: Yes, said the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them. (Revelation 14:13 AKJV)

This is said right after the seventh seal is broken and right before the vials of wrath are poured out. There seems to be a connection between giving our lives because we are Christians “die in the Lord” and the mark of the beast.

And I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark on their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (Revelation 20:4 AMPC)

If a sudden departure of Christians happens and you see trade and business destroyed with the destruction of a city, then it is time to stand firm for Jesus, refuse the mark or to worship the Beast so that you are invited to the wedding supper!

The 1000 Year Reign

After the vials of wrath, the fall of Babylon, and the preparation of the Bride we see a wonderful sight:

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he does judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself… And he has on his clothing and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS (Revelation 19:11-12 & 16 AKJV)

“King of kings and Lord of lords” can be no one but Jesus. The time has come for Him to return and take possession of the earth! There will be a showdown between good and evil, for Satan will not let of the earth without a fight:

And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. (Revelation 19:19)

Jesus isn’t alone. He brings with Him the armies of Heaven! The conclusion of this battle is inevitable:

And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that worked miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat on the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh. (Revelation 19:20-21 AKJV)

The Lord clears out the Antichrist and false prophet then destroys the army of the Antichrist. This is not the end of the earth, nor of all the people of the earth, only a brief respite from Satan and his followers:

And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. (Revelation 20:2-3 AKJ V)

For 1000 years Satan will be bound in the bottomless pit while Jesus reigns on Earth. Who will rule beside the Lord?

And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark on their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (Revelation 20:4 AKJV)

The reward for not taking the mark and worshipping the beast is to rule with Jesus for the 1000 years. You are not part of the Bride of Christ but will rule the Earth beside Him. Unfortunately, all who die after the rapture will not be “resurrected.”

The remainder of the dead were not restored to life again until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that has part in the first resurrection: on such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. (Revelation 20:5-6)

This is wonderful news for some: If you give your life for the Lord, literally, as you are beheaded for not worshipping the Beast, you are good for all eternity! There isn’t a lot of information about what happens next, but we have a few facts:

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth… And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. (Revelation 20:7-9 AKJV)

We know that there will be 1000 years of peace, then Satan will once again be loosed for “a little while” to test and deceive mankind. Jesus said He would only be gone “a little while” when He left (John 16:16), so this could be thousands of years.  Once again, we know that God has a plan and knows the outcome:

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Revelation 20:10 AKJV)

This the final fate of Satan. Mankind’s destiny is, likewise, sealed at this time:

I [also] saw the dead, great and small; they stood before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is [the Book] of Life. And the dead were judged (sentenced) by what they had done their whole way of feeling and acting, their aims and endeavors] in accordance with what was recorded in the books… all were tried and their cases determined by what they had done [according to their motives, aims, and works]... This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s [name] was not found recorded in the Book of Life, he was hurled into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:12-15)

If you die after the rapture and are not beheaded, there will be a judgment day where you are held accountable for what you have done. The “Book of Life” was mentioned to the Sardis Church who had “no perfect works” and was dying for lack of attachment to Jesus. Their names were being blotted out of the Book of Life. It should be our goal to ensure that our names are in that book now that we know how serious this is!

New Jerusalem

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (Revelation 21:1-2)

It isn’t until after the 1000 year reign that all curses are dealt with and New Jerusalem appears. The word “coming down” is translated from katabainō which can mean “of celestial beings coming down to earth.” We know that angels have brought manna from Heaven and many other heavenly resources. Why should it surprise us that at the end of the age God will bring an entire city to this planet?

We finally see where the Bride is!

Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls filled with the seven final plagues (afflictions, calamities) came and spoke to me. He said, Come with me! I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife. Then in the Spirit He conveyed me away to a vast and lofty mountain and exhibited to me the holy (hallowed, consecrated) city of Jerusalem descending out of heaven from God… (Revelation 21:9-10 AMPC)

The Bride has not been ruling on the Earth, but has been in Heaven, in the Heavenly Jerusalem! John gives a full description of this city including the size of it:

The city lies in a square, its length being the same as its width. And he measured the city with his reed—12,000 stadia (about 1,500 miles); its length and width and height are the same. (Revelation 21:15 AMPC)

This is a massively big city. It also shines with God’s glory!

And the city has no need of the sun nor of the moon to give light to it, for the splendor and radiance (glory) of God illuminate it, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations shall walk by its light and the rulers and leaders of the earth shall bring into it their glory. (Revelation 21:23-24 AMPC)

This is what God has in store for His children. It was always His intention to live among us, and in the end, it will be so.

Believers' Boot Camp series

Believers' Boot Camp - Volume One
Believers' Boot Camp: Volume Two
Roadmap to Heaven
Destroying Curses
in the Courts of Heaven

Many people think of boot camp as a place you train for combat. Any veteran will tell you that basic training is about three things:
  • Knowing what weapons are available
  • Learning how to use those weapons
  • Receiving orders and following them
Believer’s Boot Camp series is a collection of books which teach us how to hear more clearly from God with the goal to ready ourselves for a face-to-face meeting with our Lord, Jesus. The series reveals the “weapons and tools” God has given us and how to use them, so we can bring God’s kingdom to Earth. Each book in the series focuses on a single topic to clearly define one tool or weapon from our Heavenly Father.

The series uses the Word of God to reveal all that He has given us through Jesus. The Bible is our instruction manual and the Holy Spirit is our guide to understanding it.

Volume 1: Why Doesn't God Speak to Me?

Eager hearts cry out, hoping for a single word to confirm that He hears us. Yet, many times the only sound is silence. Over the years I have heard several reasons why God speaks to some and not to others. One night, as I tossed and turned, I brought each of these reasons before the Lord, stating why each of them did not line up with who I thought He was.

Words rose from my soul, pleading for Him to reveal why He has remained silent when a single word from Him would mean so much to so many. For the next few hours, God used things I learned about years ago and things I had just discovered to show why He talks to some and why He doesn’t, and in demonstrative ways.

In His grace, He also showed me how people could hear more from Him. Basic instructions on how to hear more from God and how to be led by Him are included in this book. Thank you for taking time to consider the answers I received and share with you now.
