Why Waste Time Having Fun?

On a recent visit to the Courts of Heaven I received some instruction. Two of the seers gave this report:
Attentive, Busy, Self forgiveness, Selflessness: Love your neighbor as yourself, It is alright to love yourself otherwise how will you know how to love others as yourself. I see you running around giving instructions, Commanding around nonstop without end, no resting, then I see you sitting down exhausted. Lynn your body can’t handle this. It is not by power nor by might but by my Spirit.
Let go and rest a bit more.
Along with this were instructions to take time to “enjoy” life. The description was very accurate. Everyday I didn’t stop tending to the Agape Christian Fellowship (Agape-CF) website and the Courts of Heaven Facebook group until my brain was exhausted and I couldn’t think any more. But why was this a bad thing? I had a list of things that still needed to be done!

The more I thought about taking time to enjoy life and rest, the harder it was to understand:
  • How could "selflessness" be bad?
  • Weren't we supposed to give to others?
  • Why was my enjoyment of life important to God?
If I took time to do the things I enjoy, then I wouldn’t be getting something done that needed doing. Besides, I really enjoyed spending time with God, writing, and helping people in the Courts… wasn’t that good enough? Did I need to waste time on resting and having fun?

What was the deal with me not “loving” myself? I had worked hard at overcoming years of emotional abuse and becoming happy with who God created me to be. I knew God has a purpose for me and He designed me for it. As I wrote my first bestseller fiction book, I learned to look at the positive aspects of who I am and let go of the imperfections. How was I not loving myself?

I asked the Holy Spirit for help, what was I missing? Tears came to my eyes as I tried to think of what I could do to relax and have fun. I really couldn’t remember.  The work I was doing seemed so important that everything else just faded away. It had been at least six months since I had taken any time, even an hour for myself. I stopped getting manicures and pedicures because of the time and the money.

It was a struggle, but after awhile I began to remember: swimming, horseback riding… but I no longer had a pool or a horse. Bowling… entertaining… yes, I love to cook for people and play games…. “God, couldn’t I use that time for something important?”

The Holy Spirit spoke quietly to my heart, “Don’t you love to see your kids having fun, playing at a park? Doesn’t it make you smile to see them joking and having fun? God is no different. He is our Father and He ENJOYS seeing you have fun. You deserve to enjoy this life…”
That really brought on the tears. Time was so precious, yet God wanted me to spend some of it on myself. This life is His gift to us. Yes, we have a destiny and there is work to do, but we should have fun to. By doing this, we are accepting the fullness of His love for us.

And also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God. (Ecc. 3:13)

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy… (1 Timothy 6:17)

God expects to take time to enjoy what He has given us! My Teacher, the Holy Spirit, told me that if we don’t take time to have fun, it can hinder us in showing the fullness of God’s love to others. That time of enjoyment refills our tank with God’s love. Without it, we start running low on patience. This is why I had been reacting out of frustration with my family… it always begins with those closest to us.

If you find yourself frustrated or impatient with those who are close to you, take stock of your life: are you taking time to enjoy what God has given you? It is important that you do things that you want, not just for others. You are important to God, not just a “part of His plan” but His child. He wants you to enjoy what He gives you.

This is loving yourself: spend a part of your most precious possession on on YOU - your time!

in the Courts of Heaven

Many people think of boot camp as a place you train for combat. Any veteran will tell you that basic training is about three things:
  • Knowing what weapons are available
  • Learning how to use those weapons
  • Receiving orders and following them
Believer’s Boot Camp series is a collection of books which teach us how to hear more clearly from God with the goal to ready ourselves for a face-to-face meeting with our Lord, Jesus. The series reveals the “weapons and tools” God has given us and how to use them, so we can bring God’s kingdom to Earth. Each book in the series focuses on a single topic to clearly define one tool or weapon from our Heavenly Father.

The series uses the Word of God to reveal all that He has given us through Jesus. The Bible is our instruction manual and the Holy Spirit is our guide to understanding it.

Volume 1: Why Doesn't God Speak to Me?

Eager hearts cry out, hoping for a single word to confirm that He hears us. Yet, many times the only sound is silence. Over the years I have heard several reasons why God speaks to some and not to others. One night, as I tossed and turned, I brought each of these reasons before the Lord, stating why each of them did not line up with who I thought He was.

Words rose from my soul, pleading for Him to reveal why He has remained silent when a single word from Him would mean so much to so many. For the next few hours, God used things I learned about years ago and things I had just discovered to show why He talks to some and why He doesn’t, and in demonstrative ways.

In His grace, He also showed me how people could hear more from Him. Basic instructions on how to hear more from God and how to be led by Him are included in this book. Thank you for taking time to consider the answers I received and share with you now.

Keys to Authority for Every Believer

There is untapped power that is easy for every Christian to access in the form of authority. The keys to this authority will unlock weapons we can use to free ourselves from the attacks of the enemy. We must be intimately aware of the bounds and limitations of our weapon if they are to be used effectively.

Find out about your authority:
  • Why you need it.
  • Where it comes from.
  • What you can do with it.
  • How to get more.
