Ancestral Curses

Q & A about Generational Curses

by Isaac Zadok

Some Christians today think curses are non- existent and yet they can not seem to explain why the same thing that happened to their parents or grandparents shows up in their life and the lives of their family members.  We know Jesus came to redeem us from the curse of the Law (singular) which was passed unto all mankind, for it is written, “all have come short of the glory of God.” If you broke any part of the Law of Moses, the curse you encountered for breaking the Law was that your final destination would be Hell. There were other curses (plural) that were determined by the actual sin. These curses can be passed down the generational line due to that sin.
When angry, do not sin; do not ever let your wrath (your exasperation, your fury or indignation) last until the sun goes down. Leave no [such] room or foothold for the devil [give no opportunity to him]. (Ephesians 4:26-27)

Our Guide to the Secret Place

Our Guide Meeting

The Holy Spirit asked me to provide an introduction for Him so that He could move into your life in greater measure. He sent a dream a few years back: It was the first dream the Holy Spirit ever interpreted before I even knew it was a gift He gives to people. This dream shows us not only how to get to the Secret Place but also what role the Holy Spirit plays in that trip:

I left an Indian encampment with a minister I was learning from (dark-haired man) and two people I lovingly referred to as “Hippy,” a long-haired man who smoked a pipe with vision causing materials in it and “Linebacker,” a large woman who was bigger than most men. Dark-haired man led us to an old dock with a canoe that had seen better days. He was in the front, followed by Hippy, me, then Linebacker at the end of the boat.

Finding and Closing Spiritual Gates

Closing Gates Meeting with Prayer
He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalms 91:1)
The opening line to one of the most power-packed prayers in the entire Bible begins by speaking about the Secret Place of God.This is a destination in the spiritual realm where you can be hidden in a private fellowship with God. We are a spirit being in a physical body with a soul (mind, will, and emotions). We can and should connect with our Father, who is a Spirit, in Heaven. The Word also tells us that the Lord is the one who opens the gate (door, portal)  and leads us into these encounters:
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. (John 10:9)
According to the words of our Lord, there is going in and coming out of the Secret Place through Him. This is the right way to enter into the spirit realm. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:17) and He should always be there if we are moving about in the spirit. If we access the realm of the spirit without Him, we may have an open door through which  the enemy can  come in and attack us.

The Key to Meditation & the Secret Place

The Key (meeting)

Basics of Meditation

Meditation means to engage in contemplation or reflection. It is letting go of all the things in this physical world and focusing on something in your mind; your imagination. The Bible tells us that our thoughts are important. Scripture instructs us in what we should be meditating on:
“I will meditate also on all Your work, and talk of Your doings.” (Psalms 77:12 AKJV)
“Meditate on these things; give yourself wholly to them; that your profiting may appear to all.” (1 Timothy 4:14 AKJV)
Paul instructs Timothy to meditate and think on the gifts that had been given to him by the Holy Spirit. When we meditate on the things of God it honors Him. This allows Him to reveal more about those things to us.

God's Message to You

Full Message from God
(The video has more info)

One of the gifts God has brought over the years is the gift of interpretation. Mostly this is used on dreams, but it can be applied to numbers when they come in a miraculous way.  Previously I gave a testimony about how God supernaturally sent the numbers 313 to my husband. That story can be found in the free book: Angels Believe in You. Here is what the actual numbers mean according to God’s word:
  • 3 - perfection in the spirit
  • 1 - God
The night my husband received the numbers for the second time in the exact same way, the Holy Spirit showed me how these apply to the body of Christ. He has never receive the numbers in that way in 20 years. In the number “313” the one is surrounded by threes. If we focus on God, if He is the center of our world, it will bring us from “glory to glory.” We will become perfected in the spirit little by little.

Our Mind vs The Holy Spirit

Our Mind vs The Holy Spirit

I asked the Holy Spirit if everything was going to go my way and He said  that I would be victorious. I even tested it by asking if Jesus the Messiah came in the flesh and the spirit agreed. But I lost! How can this happen?”

During my prayer time I asked, “You are never wrong, so it wasn’t you who spoke to her. Was there something wrong with the way the spirit was tested? Is there a way to get around the testing?”

The Voice of God - 313

The Miracle

Voice of God - 313 Video

I hoped this day would not come; it was my intention to never speak about these things outside of the book God told me to write. In my prayer time with the Lord, He asked me to tell you the full story of the miraculous sign of 313, leaving nothing out. For the first time I will share everything, all at once. This is so you know how I received this number and could then see how it applies to you and your life.

The very first year I devoted my life to God was filled with signs, wonders, and miracles. In the early summer of 2001, I lay in bed, praying as I always did, “Dear God, I thank you so much for…”

A loud voice that sounded like it came from everywhere and nowhere interrupted my prayer and said, “I bless you.”

Leviathan - Who, What, How

by Isaac Zadok

Leviathan

The Bible labels the armies of Egypt as Leviathan. Satan’s network in the spirit realm, hovering over the Earth, is called by the same name. (Revelation 12:3) When we say an attack of “Leviathan,” we are saying that it is a coordinated attack by the armies of Satan. There are direct and indirect references to Leviathan in the Bible. The direct references are:

  • Psalms 74:14, 104:25-26
  • Isaiah 27:1
  • Job 41

Revelation 13:1 refers to Leviathan indirectly, even though it does not mention it by name. Leviathan has traits, divisions (or heads, leaders), and a purpose which is to use pride to stifle and destroy lives and destinies God has created you for. We can see many of these divisions in the types of attacks he brings upon us.

Abba is Waiting

Abba is Waiting Meeting

When things go wrong in my life, I immediately seek the Lord to see if it is a trial or test or if I have gone wrong somewhere and left myself open to an attack from the enemy. This is what the Bible tells us to do:

Removing Blockages to the Secret Place

...in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up on a rock. Psalms 27:5
The word “tabernacle” means tent. The secret place is called the secret tent of God. This is a psalm (song) of David who had a big destiny with God. A prophet anointed him and declared that He would be the next king of Israel despite the fact that his own father thought so little of him that he wasn’t even called from the field to be tested: the prophet had to ask Jessie if he had any other sons! (1 Samuel 16) David was able to walk into his destiny with God because he knew how to abide in the Secret Place. It is God’s great desire to have all His children visit with Him there.

How to Find and Remove Soul Ties

Find and Remove Soul Ties

Soul ties are bridges in the spirit realm that connect to our mind, will and emotions. The emotions are a key point of contact: Almost any powerful emotional and passionate encounter with other people can form or forge soul ties. Traumas like fights, arguments, strife, accidents, fires, earthquakes, sickness, wars, death, etc. have the potential to establish a negative spiritual influence in our lives. (Matthew 6:21 AKJV). There are good ties, as we discussed in Benefits of Soul ties. There are also ungodly ties that give the enemy access to us.

Benefits of Soul Ties

The topic of soul ties can be very difficult to understand unless you are aware of two basic principles:
  1. The Rightful Order of Creation
  2. We are Like God
Let’s establish a basis of understanding for these things first.

Spiritual Traps Through Technology

Spirit Traps Meeting
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:21 AKJV)
A treasure is something of great worth. It stirs up our soul: We think about it, we desire it, and it inspires our passion. When your soul is continually stirred up, what you focus on may cause your spirit (heart) to be tied to that thing. This is like opening a door to your soul which is your mind, will, and emotions. When that door is open, there is an opportunity for a spiritual influence to come and take root.

Getting Grace & Mercy for Our Children

Praying for Our Children

Children are nearest and dearest to the hearts and minds of their parents. In a series of visions, the Lord has revealed to us what we can expect when we pray for our children, especially as we place them before the Throne of Grace. This revelation can be applied to others outside our family as well. It was the prayers and determination of one mother that helped bring his revelation to light.

At our Tea and Coffee meeting, Jalo asked why things were getting worse for her son, Quin, when he was at the Throne of Grace. I gave this example of a natural application:

Highest Level in the Courts of Heaven

Highest Level in the CoH

My family took a few days off during the celebration of our Independence Day, the 4th of July. Although I was gone from the ministry, God brought a major revelation about operating in the Courts of Heaven. Here is how the Lord made this revelation perfectly clear to me:

It was late when we arrived at Grandma’s cabin: the family was exhausted. The smell of cat urine came forcibly to my senses in two different spots, one downstairs and one upstairs. The Holy Spirit had used this type of discernment before, so I knew it meant demons were present.

Christians Can Have a Curse?

Christians & Curses

One of the most common questions asked about the Courts of Heaven is also one of the most prevalent items discovered in the Courts. How can a Christian have a curse? To understand the answer, you will need to know a simple, basic principle. Everything God created in the first chapter of the Bible, He did by speaking words.

And God said, “Let there be light:” and there was light. (Genesis 1:3 ASV)

And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” (Genesis 1:6 ASV)

And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear:” and it was so. (Genesis 1:9 ASV)

In order for anything to happen, God had to declare it, speak it out loud. The Bible tells us that we have been justified and saved from God’s wrath by the blood of Jesus. (Romans 5:9) Salvation is not automatic or something that “just happens” when we learn that Jesus is the Son of God. Even the demons know this and they tremble at His name. (James 2:19) We have to know He is the Son of God in our hearts and confess with our mouth that He is our Lord. (Romans 10:9) Only those who confess that He is Lord, go to Heaven. This same principle applies to curses. The New Testament tells us that Jesus redeems us from the curse of the Law:

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. (Galatians 3:13)

The word curse is singular. The single curse was that you went to Hell for violating any part of the law. This is what taking Jesus as Lord has redeemed us from. We no longer go to Hell for violating even a tiny part of the law as the Hebrew people did. That is the curse of the Law that Jesus paid for and we receive, by taking Him as Lord. Our sins can still give the enemy access to us and hinder us from achieving the destiny God has for us. The Bible tells us then there will be no more curses:

And there shall be no more curse… (Revelation 22:3)

After the 1000 year reign, when there is a “new earth” then there will be no more curse, until that time, they work under this same principle as salvation. Curses are not immediately broken when we take Jesus as Lord. We have to confess that we turn from whatever allowed that curse to come upon us, then it can be broken/removed by the blood of Jesus.

Many Christians will quote this verse about sin, reasoning that if we have no sin or guilt, we cannot have a curse either:

…the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses (removes) us from all sin and guilt… (1 John 1:7)

Taken out of context, this verse seems to say that Jesus did it all, once we accept Him as Lord, all our sin is taken care of. This is partially true. We no longer have to PAY for our sins. His blood pays for any sin, however, just like with salvation, there is something for us to do. Let’s look at this verse in the context of what is said around it in the Amplified Version where more accurate meanings are given:

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleans us from all sin. (1 John 1:7 AKJV)

Our sin is continually removed from us “if we really are living and walking in the Light and we are in fellowship with one another.” How is sin cleansed from us? Jesus is the Light, we must be walking with Him and He will reveal our sin to us. Also when we fellowship with other Christians, there is someone to help us realize when we are in sin! Two verses later, John makes this point:

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (1 John 1:9-10)

We have a part to do, we must confess our sins. The blood of Jesus blots out our sin, but we must ‘appropriate it.’ When scriptures are taken out of context, they can easily be seen to say there are no consequences for our sin, however that is not so. Everywhere the topic of not being judged or condemned is discussed you need to look at the surrounding scriptures to see how to apply it. Let's look at one more scripture to find out how to apply what is being said:

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:1)

Condemnation is a Greek word, κατάκριμα which means “damnatory sentence,” as in damnation or sentenced to Hell. This lack of condemnation is conditional: you must walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh. This means you must be focusing on the things of God and His Spirit and not on sin.

This verse begins with “There is therefore…” which means it is referring to something previously stated. You will need to read the chapter before this one to put it in the right context. This letter was addressing Jews in Rome who were trying to follow the Law instead of Jesus. The key verse to understanding Romans 8:1 is this:

Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. (Romans 7:4 ESV)

Paul is trying to show his Jewish brothers that they are no longer justified by the Law but by the sacrifice of Jesus. Throughout these two chapters, Paul is showing them that they need to be led by the Spirit and stop trying to be justified by the Law of Moses. It is through Jesus that we are no longer condemned.

In Chapter Eight, Paul also states that someone who is focused on doing things of the flesh (sin) and not following God’s ways has not really received Christ as Lord but nowhere in this chapter does it say that sin does not affect us in this life. The topic is our eternal life and being righteous or in right standing before God.

Another verse in Hebrews is often quoted to state that we are perfect and no sin or curse can affect us. There are some who have even gone as far as to say that we have the perfect blood or perfect DNA by using this scripture out of context. Let’s take a look at that as well.

For by a single offering He has forever completely cleansed and perfected those who are consecrated and made holy. (Hebrews 10:14)

You must keep reading to find out how to apply this verse:

And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds...” (Hebrews 10:16)

Hebrews 10:16 is about our heart, our spirit, not our bodies. Most of the New Testament speaks of the corruption of the flesh (the body) and the need to continually crucify it. It is important to remove sin, because it will allow a curse to attach to us.

....the curse causeless shall not come. (Proverbs 26:2)

A curse must have a reason to come upon a Christian. That reason is sin. In order to remove the generational curse, we must remove the sin from our lives. The blood of Jesus has paid the price, it will cleanse us and set us free.

One thing we have discovered by visiting the Courts of Heaven with thousands of people is that curses are not the only thing passed on from our ancestors. A few other things passed down are:

  • oath
  • covenants
  • sacrifices
  • dedications

These are easily broken by confessing the sins on behalf of our ancestors, renouncing them and stating the blood of Jesus as payment for our freedom. He has done it all, we only need to correctly ‘appropriate it’. This can be done in or outside of the Courts of Heaven. The Courts are just an easy place to find out what needs to be confessed and turned from.

The Fellowship meeting after the message about this, covers more information about curses, finances and our family:

Destroying Curses

Many people think of boot camp as a place you train for combat. Any veteran will tell you that basic training is about three things:
  • Knowing what weapons are available
  • Learning how to use those weapons
  • Receiving orders and following them
Believer’s Boot Camp series is a collection of books which teach us how to hear more clearly from God with the goal to ready ourselves for a face-to-face meeting with our Lord, Jesus. The series reveals the “weapons and tools” God has given us and how to use them, so we can bring God’s kingdom to Earth. Each book in the series focuses on a single topic to clearly define one tool or weapon from our Heavenly Father.

The series uses the Word of God to reveal all that He has given us through Jesus. The Bible is our instruction manual and the Holy Spirit is our guide to understanding it.

Volume 1: Why Doesn't God Speak to Me?

Eager hearts cry out, hoping for a single word to confirm that He hears us. Yet, many times the only sound is silence. Over the years I have heard several reasons why God speaks to some and not to others. One night, as I tossed and turned, I brought each of these reasons before the Lord, stating why each of them did not line up with who I thought He was.

Words rose from my soul, pleading for Him to reveal why He has remained silent when a single word from Him would mean so much to so many. For the next few hours, God used things I learned about years ago and things I had just discovered to show why He talks to some and why He doesn’t, and in demonstrative ways.

In His grace, He also showed me how people could hear more from Him. Basic instructions on how to hear more from God and how to be led by Him are included in this book. Thank you for taking time to consider the answers I received and share with you now.

Keys to Authority for Every Believer

There is untapped power that is easy for every Christian to access in the form of authority. The keys to this authority will unlock weapons we can use to free ourselves from the attacks of the enemy. We must be intimately aware of the bounds and limitations of our weapon if they are to be used effectively.

Find out about your authority:
  • Why you need it.
  • Where it comes from.
  • What you can do with it.
  • How to get more.

Preparing for Intercession

Intercession Prep Meeting

When the Lord has a person on your heart, often this is a call to pray for that person. Christians refer to this as intercession: the act of intervening on behalf of another. There are many types of prayers for others. Preparation will be needed if the intercession prayer is for anything other than healing for someone who is critically ill or healing for someone who doesn’t yet know God. In these instances, the need is dire and there may not be time for preparation.

Holy Imagination & the Secret Place

Holy Imagination & the Secret Place

During our Tea & Coffee meeting, the topic came up: Is using our imagination, envisioning the Secret Place, Throne Room, Jesus or Heaven to visit with the Lord a vain Imagination? We had invited the Holy Spirit to lead the meeting and I was shocked at what He revealed about this.

Teachings about using our “Holy Imagination” to enter Heaven are becoming prevalent in the Church. What is “Holy Imagination?” The word “holy” means separate, set apart, sanctified. Can our imagination be holy?

Resting in God to Enter the Secret Place

Resting in God

Rest seems to be an important topic in the New Testament: it is mentioned more than 75 times. I have found resting in God to be one of the most challenging parts of my Christian walk, but is crucial if we are to visit the Lord face to face in the Secret Place. I’m probably not alone in these difficulties because they are mentioned in the Bible:
“Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest...” (Hebrews 4:11 AKJV)
“Resting in God” sounds like it should be easy to do. Just sit back and relax. Yet here in Hebrews, it seems that it may be a challenge to do. Laboring to enter rest sounds like an oxymoron: the two things seem to contradict each other. This struggle begs us to ask:
  • What is resting in God?
  • What are the benefits of resting?
  • What can keep us from resting?

Higher Levels in the Courts

The Throne of Grace is a wonderful place to be. The attacks of the enemy are eased so that we can grow and learn from God. As you begin to grow in the knowledge of the Courts you may begin to wonder:

  • What do we need to do to operate in the Courts with more authority?

Receiving MORE from the Courts

Receiving More Video

Each new revelation from God seems to be so effective as it begins, then it begins to degrade over time. Why is this? God is always the same, so why do things change?

We must find the answers to these questions now because the revelation of the Courts of Heaven is in danger of becoming ineffective; an "old wineskin." To understand why, we need to know what the Bible says about old wineskin. If you have not been immersed in the Christian culture, this term may be unfamiliar to you. What does it mean to be an “old wineskin?” Three out of the four accounts in the Bible record our Lord talking about this, so it must be important:

Trouble Receiving Grace & Mercy

Trouble with Grace & Mercy

After the Lord revealed how to appropriate the fullness of grace and mercy that His sacrifice provided, we saw immediate results as people began to be set free of everything from mental, emotional and physical healing, to demonic oppression they didn’t know was there until it was lifted. We also received messages from people who were still under a heavy attack from the enemy.
We sought the Lord as to why this was happening. Wasn’t His grace for everyone? The most common reasons were:
  • Eligibility for the Throne of Grace
  • Not confessing sin
  • Not renouncing binding agreements with the enemy
  • Not learning God’s ways
  • Not understanding grace and mercy

Interceding for Others

Interceding for Others

Our Lord has revealed how to appropriate the fullness of His grace and mercy for ourselves (read that article CLICK HERE). Can we intercede for the ones we love so that they are free of the attacks of the enemy? Let’s look at what the Bible tells us.

According to the Book of Daniel, chapter nine, as we have discussed, he interceded for his people and his nation. He did so with a heart grieved and sorrowful as he confessed that God had rightfully punished his people and his nation. He acknowledged the following in a broad, general way:

Receiving Grace and Mercy in the Courts of Heaven

Grace and Mercy Video

The revelation of grace and mercy came as we prepared for the Feast of Passover; it would be the last one before the glory of God was revealed. He suffered and died for this purpose and I realized that He was showing us how to use the gifts of grace and mercy as the yearly celebration for it neared. We should seek grace from the Lord while we learn about the Courts of Heaven.

We have learned how to appropriate the blood of Jesus in the Courts. The prophecy by John shows us how important that is:
... for the accuser of our brethren, he who keeps bringing before our God charges against them day and night, has been cast out! And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony  and they loved not their lives unto the death.... (Revelation 12:10-11)

Passover: Foreshadow of the Two Witnesses & the Rapture

Passover: Rapture Foreshadow

If you have been to an Easter Sunday service, the chances are you have heard about the correlation between Christ and the Passover Lamb when God’s people fled Egypt. As I spoke with the Lord about the Passover message for this year, He pointed out that it was also a foreshadow of what is to come. There many parts of Passover that are a direct foreshadow of one aspect of the Tribulation.
  1. The Setting
  2. The Job
  3. The Climax
  4. The Payment
  5. The Reward
  6. The Rapture
These six things were echoed in the life of Jesus and the life of the two that will come to proclaim His return and the rapture itself.

Why God Speaks: Chosen or Called

Why God Speaks Video

Why does God talk to some people more than He does to others? How does God choose to whom He speaks? It is undeniable; God does speak and move more in the lives of some “chosen” people.

For many are called (invited, summoned), but few are chosen. (Matthew 22:14 AMP)

One thing about this passage always troubled me. The Greek word used in this scripture for “many” is polys. The Greek word for “all” is pas, which is not used here. Why not? Does this mean that there are some who are never called by God? Not at all! The word polys can also be used to mean much or most. Simply put, it should read: Almost everyone is called, but the remaining few are chosen.

Why God is Silent

Why God is Silent video

A popular 1980s Garth Brooks’ song says:

“Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he doesn't answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.”

Though this is not a “Church” song, the lyrics really speak to a topic that affects many Christians. When we pray, God doesn’t seem to answer. When the situation is important to our hearts, this silence may compromise our relationship with our Heavenly Father and how we perceive Him. In order to hear from God, it helps to know why God is sometimes silent. If we don’t understand this, bitterness and disbelief may creep into our hearts.

Removing Wrong Answers

Removing Wrong Answers
In order to hear from God, we need to prepare our hearts for what He may say to us. If we have misconception about how and why God speaks, this may hinder us from receiving from Him.

For years my husband persisted in asking me, “Why won’t God just say ‘hi’ to everyone on the planet? You say that He is love, and that people go to Hell for not believing in Him. It seems like if He really loved us that much, He would at least say ‘hi,’ then we would know that He is real.”

In response to his constant questions I dutifully gave each answer as it had been given to me:
  •         It would eliminate the need for faith.
  •         He can’t because of our sin.
  •         He speaks when it is necessary.
  •         It would violate our free will.
My husband’s tenacious, logical mind left him unsatisfied by these explanations. He complained, “I keep asking to hear from Him and He has yet to say a word!”

I had only one reply that amounts to the last resort comment for most Christians: “I guess there are some things we just won’t know until we get to Heaven.”

Until recently, being left in the dark about this didn’t bother me like it did my husband, but for good reason: I was on the opposite side of the scenario. Within a year of renewing my relationship with the Lord, He had spoken to me in an audible voice. I had been instantly and miraculously healed of medically documented conditions numerous times. Some of the more serious ailments included:
  • a deviated septum
  • torn rotator cuff
  • bulging disc that caused mild seizures
I had also seen angels and demons on many occasions, which I have written about in my book “Angels Believe in You.”

In the summer of 2016, my perspective on hearing from God changed when I read a book about a woman, let us call her Judy, who began seeing Jesus when she prayed and worshiped Him at bedtime each night. For two weeks, the Lord would take Judy to a garden in Heaven that was created specifically for her. I was forced to put the book down consumed with frustration after reading a few accounts of the unique and unforgettable way He taught Judy important lessons.

My journey with the Lord, documented in “Angels Believe in You,” may make for an interesting read, but the truth of the matter is that it represents years of painful lessons and failures. It took me more than a decade to learn what the Lord had showed Judy in two weeks with half a dozen trips to Heaven! “Lord,” my heart cried, “why did I have to go through all that? You have told me that I’m supposed to visit You in Heaven… Why couldn’t You have brought me there sooner? Then I wouldn’t have had to go through such pain?”
I recalled Him telling the disciples, “Blessed is he who believes and does not see.”

Those words put the matter to rest for me. But being on the other side of the scenario, however briefly, made the issue of not hearing from God much more real to me. The more I thought about it, the more the typical reasons just didn’t make sense.

One night, a cry arose from the depth of my soul, “God, none of these things explain why a loving God would let so many people suffer in Hell for all eternity… I must know who You are! Why don’t you speak to them?”
Within the next five hours, God used pieces of what I learned about Him over the years to solve the puzzle that has plagued both Christians and non-Christians for generations. First, I stated my arguments concerning why none of these answers lined up with the Word of God (Bible) and who I knew Him to be. Then He showed me why He does and doesn’t speak to people.

Negating Our Faith

Often whenever I would talk to other Christians about why God seems to talk to some people and not others they would say, “Believing in God takes faith. If He just spoke to people, they wouldn’t need faith to believe in Him.” As a new Christian, this seemed to make sense. However, the more I read the Bible, the less confidence I had in this answer.
The story of Abraham contradicts this answer. Here is the shortened version of the classic Bible story of the man who is said to be the spiritual father of every Christian:
  • God spoke to Abram, the son of an idol maker: people considered these clay idols to be representative of actual gods – they would pray to them. I think it is safe to say that Abram didn’t know God at this time. Then, one day God spoke to him and said, Abram, go away from your father’s people and your country, and I will make a great nation of you.
  • Abram eventually became Abraham who is called the father of our faith because he believed God, and his faith in God was counted as righteousness or right standing with God. (Genesis 15:6, Romans 4:3-6)
This story shows that hearing God speak does not mean instant belief and faith. The fact that Abraham had faith gave him right standing (righteousness) before God. If faith came instantly, there would be no reward for having it—faith would be the natural result of God’s voice. This means that hearing God speak to you doesn’t eliminate the need for faith.
Sin Separation
But your iniquities (knowingly sinning) have made a separation between you and God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear. (Isaiah 59:2)
This verse is used to justify why God doesn’t speak to some people. They claim that God is separated from us because of our sin; that God’s holiness cannot tolerate sin. Let us look at these two issues one at a time:
If you look closely at this verse, it says God will not hear us or hear our prayers. It doesn’t say we cannot hear Him. Yet, God still spoke to Abraham even though there was a separation. This means sin doesn’t keep God from speaking to us.

Also consider the fact that if God couldn’t speak because of sin, this would mean sin was more powerful than God. Though sin separates us from God, He has provided a way back to Himself:
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2 Corinthians 5:21 AKJV)

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. (Hebrews 2:9 AKJV)
Jesus came to bridge the gap by taking all sin upon Himself. He gave us His perfect life so that we can be reunited with our Creator as He originally intended.
Another claim is that sin cannot be in the presence of God. This is not supported by the Bible, quite the opposite. There are three very good examples of this:

  1. The Book of Job begins with Satan being in Heaven before the throne. Satan is evil; sin incarnate. If Satan can be before God talking with Him about Job, then God can speak to people who are in sin. (Job 1:6-12)
  2. The story of Abraham illustrates this point: God spoke to Abraham while he was still with his father who made idols – I sincerely doubt he believed in God and was without sin when God first spoke to him. (Genesis 12, Joshua 24:2)
  3. Paul, who wrote most of the New Testament, was originally called Saul. Then one day, while he was pursuing Christians to torture and crucify them, Jesus appeared to him. I’m pretty sure it was a sin to be killing Christians. (Acts 9:1-12)
It is apparent that God can speak to us even if we don’t believe in Him and while we are in sin. Yet, why doesn’t He speak to more people who are lost or don’t believe in Him? Surely a simple “Hello” in an audible voice would give people a heads up that He is real so they could find Him and Jesus easier.
Violating Free Will

I have also heard, and repeated to others, that if God spoke to everyone it would take away our free will to believe or not believe in Him. We would know for sure that He existed, thus having faith in Him would no longer be an act of our free will. This isn’t accurate at all when it is presented this way, however free will does play into why God doesn’t speak to some people.

When I began really pursuing God with my whole heart to answer this question, the first thing He did was take me step-by-step to fully understand exactly what free will is. It was shocking how little I actually comprehended when I began to examine the concept. It was easy to understand once I looked at it from the beginning of the history of man.
Adam and Eve

Jewish commentary in the “Tehillim” – commonly known as the Book of Psalms – ties Psalm 139:16 to Genesis 5:1. “Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days were written before ever they took shape.” It continues, “This is the book of the generations of the offspring of Adam.” These ancient rabbinic writings indicate this verse refers to a council God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit had before the world was created. God showed Adam all the generations that would come from him: The prophets, teachers, and great men and told him what each would do. Adam knew the number of their days and the steps they would take. If God has a book with our destiny in it, do we even have free will? A book may hold the destiny for which we were created, yet it is up to us to fulfill it. (This is further explained in the free book, “Destroying Curses in the Courts of Heaven”).

Prior to creation, God had lots of servants – Heavenly hosts including the angels. Then He wanted children – a family. In order for this new creation to have free will, they had to make a choice and He had to give them the authority to make it. God made Adam and Eve perfect and complete just like Him. He placed them in a perfect garden He created and gave Earth to them:
God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth…And God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:26-28 AMP)
Adam and Eve were supposed to make more humans to increase the size of God’s family. He gave mankind control and He gave them a choice in the form of a tree. If they wanted more than what He gave them, there was the tree of knowledge that contained intimacy with everything; even that which wasn’t God. He warned them not to eat from it. He knew if they disobeyed Him there would be a separation between Him and mankind. In time it would mean death, not only to Adam and Eve but also too many who came after them. Adam and Eve knew and talked with God, yet they still had the free will to choose.
Think of the destiny of man like a tree with a V-shaped trunk. One side of the trunk leads to branches (our lives) filled with leaves (people who eventually become children of God). If they chose not to eat from the tree of knowledge, every branch would lead to a leaf (a child of God) because they would still be connected to God. There would be no sin and no separation from God.
image1.jpg
The other side of the trunk is the path that was chosen when Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge. It is a cluster of living and dead branches. Living branches (people living out the destiny God planned for them) lead to paths God intends for us and produces many leaves (children of God) along the way. Withered branches with no leaves represent people who never become part of God’s family, whose lives are lived without fulfilling the destiny for which God created them.
This is why it says:
The Lord regretted that He had made mankind on the earth, and He was [deeply] grieved in His heart. (Genesis 6:6 AMP)
God is all knowing, but we have free will. He knew that Eve might be tricked and Adam would follow his wife away from the original path and the destiny He had for them. God also knew exactly what it would cost to repair the damage caused by their decisions— the life of His son Jesus.
It is important to note that before they made their choice, Adam and Eve, in their human physical form, had complete authority over the Earth. (Genesis 3) Satan had to appear to them in a physical body (a snake) in order to seize that authority from them. Although neither Satan nor Lucifer was named in the aforementioned verse, Ezekiel 28:14 tells us that Satan was the anointed cherub sent to Eden.
·        After Adam and Eve were tricked, Satan became the ruler of this world.
·     Satan, who is the god of this world has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. (2 Corinthians 4:4 NLT)
·        God prepared a human body for Jesus so that through His obedience unto death, He could take back all authority under Heaven and Earth.
Hence, when He [Christ] entered into the world He said, sacrifices and offerings You have not desired, but instead You have made ready a body for Me [to offer] … (Hebrews 10:5 AMPC)
Jesus approached, and breaking the silence, said to them, “All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.” (Matthew 28:18 AMPC)
There is a great battle in the spiritual realm, two sides fighting to influence man so that their will can be done on Earth. One is an interloper and one is the King. This is why free will is so important. There are major events that must occur for God to achieve what He set out to obtain: an eternal family in Heaven. There are branches that must be in place to lead to the next necessary element. Before time began, God knew if the path of the tree of knowledge was established, there would be a series of necessary events throughout time that would have to occur in order to bring humanity back to Him.
This is basic to the idea of free will. The choices we make determine not only how fruitful our lives are here on Earth, but what branches are open to us in the future. Knowing God exists doesn’t change the fact that you still have the right to choose to do it His way or not. Adam and Eve walked and talked with God, yet they still chose to do what God had told them not to do.
God is all-knowing. He knew exactly what the consequences were of this act of free will: how many souls would be lost and what it would take to get the family He wanted with sin in the world taking so many from Him. This is why their disobedience grieved Him so. He gave Adam and Eve free will and they chose the path that would be so much harder for mankind. At that moment, He grieved for every lost soul that was to come.
The Lord regretted that He had made mankind on the earth, and He was [deeply] grieved in His heart. (Genesis 6:6 AMP)
Only When Necessary
A televangelist once asked God why He had spoken to other mighty men of God. Yet Jesus had never appeared to him. God’s answer came in the small, quiet voice of the Holy Spirit, “I give to man what is necessary. If the journey is going to be long and hard, they will need to hear directly from me to complete the task.”
This answer satisfied me for many years. After all, God spoke to me and it was fifteen years before I even knew why He said what He did and how it would come to pass in my own life. During that time, it was hard to hold onto the promise He had given me year after year. Hearing his audible voice gave me the strength I needed when it would have been easier to just give up.
Although this answer is true, it still doesn’t explain why some people die without ever knowing that God exists. Why would a loving God not speak to people before they perish? Surely it was “necessary” for them to hear His voice?

To understand why God limits His interaction is a big topic which we will address in another article.

Destroying Curses
in the Courts of Heaven
