Communion: The Heart that Communes with the Lord

VIDEO: The Heart that Communes with the Lord

Psalm 15

Lord, who shall dwell [temporarily] in Your tabernacle? Who shall dwell [permanently] on Your holy hill?  He who walks and lives uprightly and blamelessly, who works rightness and justice and speaks and thinks the truth in his heart. (Psalm 15:1-2 AMPC)

A tent served as a sanctuary during the Exodus until the Temple was built. The tabernacle was a tent that enclosed the Ark of the Covenant. It was the place where God lived among the people and where people went to meet with the Lord. Later, Zion became known as the holy hill of the Lord.

The holy hill, the dwelling, and the tabernacle of the Lord are where we meet with Him. It is called The Secret Place.

The Bible says:

For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock. Psalm 27:5 AMPC

and also:

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. Psalm 91:1 AMPC

Verse 1 of Psalm 15 asks the question, Lord, who shall dwell [temporarily] in Your tabernacle? Who shall dwell [permanently] on Your holy hill?

Verse 2 answers: He who walks and lives uprightly and blamelessly, who works rightness and justice and speaks and thinks the truth in his heart.

This verse speaks of having an upright and blameless walk and life. Working right and justly, speaking from the heart, and thinking the truth from the heart is an attitude of the heart. It refers to the willingness to walk rightly and to conduct oneself with honesty.

Treating others with rightness is essential when we want to stand in the presence of the Lord, who commanded us to love one another. When you exercise love, you want to be sincere, speak the truth, and treat others fairly. It is fitting to have the right attitude of heart to commune with the Lord because He sees your heart. Jesus sees your efforts, your resolve, and your willingness to do what is right.

Psalm 24

We find a similar question and answer in Psalm 24.

Who shall go up into the mountain of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His Holy Place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted himself up to falsehood or to what is false, nor sworn deceitfully. (Psalm 24: 3-4 AMPC)

Take a look at that! He who has clean hands and a pure heart. Once more, a pure heart. A genuine heart, a heart that looks up to the Lord with a yearning for His presence. Again, this speaks about the heart. This heart is humble before the Lord, it is truthful and sincere. With a heart like this, you look up to the Lord and express how much you love Him and how much you enjoy His presence.

King David wrote a delightful passage in Psalm 27 that speaks about his heart in the Secret Place.

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple. For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock. (Psalm 27.4-5 AMPC)

To behold and gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple: that is His desire.

King David wanted to admire the beauty of the Lord and His attractiveness which is so sweet. He wanted to enjoy the delightful loveliness of the Lord. Then he wanted to meditate in His temple. Meditate upon the Word of the Lord. His actions. His nature. His plans. Communing with the Lord is wanting the Lord for Who He is, not looking to get things from Him, but wanting Him for Who He is.

The 501 series in the Court of Heaven Academy on the Secret Place teaches more about the roadmap to the Secret Place. The Lord wants you to know it is not about perfection in our walk, it is about the willingness of your heart that makes you able to commune with the Lord.

...All of you must keep awake (give strict attention, be cautious and active) and watch and pray, that you may not come into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26: 41 AMPC

The person who has My commands and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I [too] will love him and will show (reveal, manifest) Myself to him. [I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him.] …  Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him.  John 14: 21 & 23 AMPC

A side note is that we know that soul wounds can impact the best of intentions. If you are struggling to enter into His presence, once you have completed the 301 course, you can schedule a soul-healing appointment for help.

By the grace of the Lord, I pray that the Lord will help you commune with Him and remain in the Secret Place of the Most-High.

Believers' Boot Camp series

Believers' Boot Camp - Volume One
Believers' Boot Camp: Volume Two

Many people think of boot camp as a place you train for combat. Any veteran will tell you that basic training is about three things:

  • Knowing what weapons are available
  • Learning how to use those weapons
  • Receiving orders and following them
Believer’s Boot Camp series is a collection of books which teach us how to hear more clearly from God with the goal to ready ourselves for a face-to-face meeting with our Lord, Jesus. The series reveals the “weapons and tools” God has given us and how to use them, so we can bring God’s kingdom to Earth. Each book in the series focuses on a single topic to clearly define one tool or weapon from our Heavenly Father.

The series uses the Word of God to reveal all that He has given us through Jesus. The Bible is our instruction manual and the Holy Spirit is our guide to understanding it.

Why Doesn't God Speak to Me?

Believers’ Boot Camp, Volume 1

Eager hearts cry out, hoping for a single word to confirm that He hears us. Yet, many times the only sound is silence. Over the years I have heard several reasons why God speaks to some and not to others. One night, as I tossed and turned, I brought each of these reasons before the Lord, stating why each of them did not line up with who I thought He was.

Words rose from my soul, pleading for Him to reveal why He has remained silent when a single word from Him would mean so much to so many. For the next few hours, God used things I learned about years ago and things I had just discovered to show why He talks to some and why He doesn’t, and in demonstrative ways.

In His grace, He also showed me how people could hear more from Him. Basic instructions on how to hear more from God and how to be led by Him are included in this book. Thank you for taking time to consider the answers I received and share with you now.

Keys to Authority for Every Believer

Believers’ Boot Camp, Volume 2

There is untapped power that is easy for every Christian to access in the form of authority. The keys to this authority will unlock weapons we can use to free ourselves from the attacks of the enemy. We must be intimately aware of the bounds and limitations of our weapon if they are to be used effectively.

Find out about your authority:
  • Why you need it.
  • Where it comes from.
  • What you can do with it.
  • How to get more.

Destroying Curses in the Courts of Heaven

Believers’ Boot Camp, Volume 3

Our rights to appear in the Courts of Heaven have been greatly undervalued. The missing key to our authority is here. Jesus has provided the access and the Bible shows us the court procedures. When we learn to operate in our rightful place as children of the Most High, the enemy will be defeated and we will see the victory we have prayed for.

The death of Jesus freed us from the curse of the law. However, we must declare this freedom just as we must make a declaration for our salvation.

  • Can curses be passed to our children?
  • What are signs of a curse?
  • How do you get rid of one?

Every answer is backed by scripture. Come and find out how easy it is to be free!
