He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty… (Psalm 91:1 AMPC)

God would not have Moses begin this Psalm by stating it only applies to those who are dwelling in the Secret Place if it were not His will for all of His people to come and be with Him there. This is a Moses generation. God wants to bring all His children to “The Secret Place” where He can speak to them face-to-face. He did this with Moses, and it was His original intent to have all of Israel visit Him this way. 

The Secret Place is where the enemy cannot see what is going on and where Jesus can teach His bride God’s ways to prepare her for the wedding. God will also interact with us there as Abba, Father. In order to enter the Secret Place, we need to set aside time to focus on Jesus. This is done when we meditate or journal with God.

Journaling

When you begin seeking God, journaling may be your first step. Life has so many pressures causing our thoughts to be like kittens chasing a ball of yarn. It can be hard to put the things of this world aside and remain focused on God.

Journaling is setting aside time to record your thoughts and what you see or hear after each thought. Slowing down to write it out can develop the skills necessary to begin focusing on what you are saying. It is also a way to honor God by putting forth the effort to record what is happening as you step out in faith by gathering items in expectation of hearing from Him.

Having a record of what happens will allow you to examine it closely. Everything you receive should be tested:

• Does it line up with the Word of God?
• Does it reflect the loving heart of God? 

If you are unsure if it meets these two requirements, ask a mature Christian about it. You may also bring it to the discernment meeting after completing class 301 - 7: Cursed Objects, in the Courts of Heaven Academy. 

Keeping a journal will let you look back on it later to examine it. Deeper meanings may become clear later. Patterns may also emerge.

There is no one right way to journal with God, but I will share some basics you may wish to consider:

Have something you can easily record with:

• a notebook, 
• a writing utensil, 
• a computer, laptop, tablet or a smartphone

Find a quiet place and write out a greeting address to whom you want to speak with.

• Yahweh (Father, Son & Holy Spirit ALL together)
• Holy Spirit
• Jesus
• Abba (Daddy, Papa - what you would call your father when you were five years old)

Speak from your heart:

• Questions
• Comments
• Anything on your mind is okay

Meditation

Meditation means to engage in contemplation or reflection. It is letting go of all the things in this physical world and focusing on something in your mind; your imagination. The Bible tells us that our thoughts are important. Scripture instructs us in what we should be meditating on:

“I will meditate also of all Your work, and talk of Your doings.” (Psalm 77:12 AKJV) 

“Meditate on these things; give yourself wholly to them; that your profiting may appear to all.” (1 Timothy 4:15 AKJV)

Paul instructs Timothy to meditate and think on the gifts that had been given to him by the Holy Spirit. When we meditate on the things of God, it honors Him. This allows Him to reveal more about those things to us. A few points that may help you:

• You should always begin by addressing the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, asking Them to move in and protect this time with Them. 
• Scriptures focused on how awesome God is may help you get started (Psalms are good).
• Start by thanking God for any good things in your life.
• This leads to praising Him for what He has done.

A feeling will bubble up from inside, more than praise as you focus on how amazing He is - this is worship. It can be done without many words. I often do it by just saying “Jesus, I love you,” while focusing on these things.

You may begin to experience these feelings:

• Tears falling
• Tingling cascading on your body
• Peace
• Hope

Just relax and let it happen. This is God moving upon you. You may not hear or see anything at first. But keep doing these things and ask the Holy Spirit to open your spiritual eyes and ears. In time, you may notice that thoughts come into your mind. These thoughts may not be from you, it may be the Holy Spirit speaking to you.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ… (2 Corinthians 10:5 AKJV)

Paul makes it clear that not every thought or imagination we have is from God. We need to test these thoughts and take them captive until we find out who they are from. We test it as we do with journaling. There is an additional test, should a figure appear in your mind.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know you the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God. (1 John 4:1-2 AKJV)

In the foundational courses in the Courts of Heaven Academy, we discuss how to discern if a prophet, pastor, apostle, or evangelist may be speaking by another spirit. For the purposes of meditation, if a figure should appear to you in your mind or ever before your eyes, you can test them by asking, “Do you confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh.”

By confessing that the Anointed Messiah has come in the flesh, they are placing themselves under His authority. A spirit from God will rejoice as they confirm this. The Lord, Himself, has said to me on multiple occasions, “Yes I do because I did and I shall come again.” The Father, Son and Holy Spirit always love to be asked and will confirm this as well.  A spirit that isn’t from God will not have the same response:

• They will try to avoid the question
• They will leave
• They will become angry

If they don’t immediately respond in a positive way, you may be speaking to a demon impersonating the Trinity or a spirit who is trying to deceive you and lead you astray. Testing the spirit interacting with you, even if it is only in your mind, will protect you and keep you safe.
