God and Meditation - May 4, 2014

May 4, 2014

My eyes close as I softly whisper my nightly ritual, “Father, I thank you for this wonderful day and for the gift of Your Son, Jesus. I thank You for the life He lived and the life He gave for us. I plead the blood of Jesus over my body, my home, my possessions, and the works of my hand. I thank You that this is a barrier that no evil can transgress.”

I continue my prayers silently in my head, chatting with my Heavenly Father for a short while before asking God what I should be doing this week and petitioning Him once again to let me know if it is not His will for me to go to Heaven and back again.  The facts I know about Heaven ease through my thoughts: There is a tree of life in Heaven. It is said that the leaves bring healing to the nations.Could I bring back leaves? A handful would mean my parents would be in perfect health, along with my family.

As it has happened regularly since November 2013, my hands begin to tingle all the way up to my elbows as if they are falling asleep. This is not the first time I’ve had this sensation when I pray: when God healed my deviated septum my hands tingled in much the same way.

What is the Grim Reaper - Can it Hurt You?

When All Else Fails - Call Mom!

Billye Brim’s Christian heritage is rich. She sensed the call of God in early childhood. However, it was only after an encounter with the Holy Spirit in 1967, that she as a young wife and mother of four began to follow Him to walk out her call. Later in life, she taught at Rhema Bible Training Center.

Immediately after ordination in 1980 she traveled to Soviet Russia in what proved to be ongoing ministry there. Since then she has literally ministered around the world several times over.

One would think that Billye's kids would be a powerful force in this world, that they would be safe... not so much.

In her own words, this is a very "interesting" story from her son Chip:

Chip and his friends had rented a double-wide mobile home far out into the country in college. His friend Conley, is a boy that I know - They and a couple of others were all basketball, football and baseball players. It was kind of like a fraternity house. They were partying and doing things that he knew better than to do.

Weird things were going on. Windows would go up and down, the mixer would turn on. The TV would flip on, blaring loud. They would come home from college and every day, every appliance would be going full blast.

They contacted the landlord and said, "What's going on? Is someone else coming in here?"

In God's Time - February 2014

February 2014

The Hardy Family Under Attack

In February of 2014, I completed the final chapter of Angels Believe in You: The Journey that Led to Heaven and Back Again and waited for responses from my first readers. February has always been a busy month at the Hardy house. Valentine’s Day, my birthday, and our anniversary happen within the shortest month of the year. The devil and his minions must not be happy about this book because this was the worst February I can recall:

Tony didn’t make reservations on Valentine’s Day; we ended up celebrating with our girls, Ashley and Sarah by dining at Taco Time going to the movies. For my birthday, Tony took me to an extremely nice restaurant in Downtown Boise, but the scallops I ordered gave me food poisoning. By the time our anniversary rolled around on the 29th , I was determined to do everything I could to make sure this string of special occasions ended better than it started. Unfortunately, however, Tony didn’t get the memo.

My beloved husband didn’t get me so much as a card for our eighteen-year anniversary; I was very hurt. I spent two days trying to get over the disappointments of the entire month.

Ashley, our oldest, had finally gotten the mild flu that had run through the family. With the stuffy nose and sore throat, she also got a horrendous cough. By Saturday, she was coughing with almost every breath. On Sunday night, she coughed so hard that she threw up. Tony and I crawled into bed, hearing her coughing through the vent, which kept both our rooms warm.

I had avoided him all day. Now I broached the topic of the missed anniversary, “Honey, I realize Valentine’s Day and wedding anniversary celebrations were probably created by women who needed some romance in their life. It is what women crave. After all, romance books sell more copies than any other genre. But you picked February 29th as our wedding day because you said it was the one date you could never forget. However, this is the first time you have and I was deeply hurt. As sick as I was, I still managed to get you a card and a box of your favorite chocolates on Friday.

“I know this has been a heck of a year for you: the constant pain of therapy is wearing on you,” I said. Between that and actually getting sick, well, you messed up. I know you love me – that is apparent in all that you do every day. So we missed the days the world tells us to celebrate on. I’m ready to put this entire month behind us.”

Tony hugged me. “I am really sorry. I kept thinking I needed to get something,” he said. “There just never seemed to be a good time.”

“Maybe next year, don’t wait for the last minute?” I suggested.

We got comfortable. The sounds of Ashley coughing made sleep elusive for both of us. At one o’clock in the morning Tony got up to check on her.

The Holy Spirit urged me to pray in faith for Ashley to be healed. “Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name I ask that you heal Ashley so that she can rest tonight.”

The coughing didn’t even pause. “What the heck, Lord?” I asked, “You said to pray and I did.”

The whisper of the Holy Spirit was clear in my mind, “The cough is not due to the sickness.”

"Colleges are Full of Demons:" What Angels Cannot Help You With

Billye Brim’s Christian heritage is rich. She sensed the call of God in early childhood. However, it was only after an encounter with the Holy Spirit in 1967, that she as a young wife and mother of four began to follow Him to walk out her call. Later in life, she taught at Rhema Bible Training Center.

Immediately after ordination in 1980 she traveled to Soviet Russia in what proved to be ongoing ministry there. Since then she has literally ministered around the world several times over.

"Colleges are full of demons," Billye tells us. At a conference, her daughter recounted an experience she had in college:

One night I returned to my dorm really late. I fell into bed completely exhausted. My eyes popped open when the bed started bouncing around, completely coming of the ground at times.
