Can we Plead the Blood Wrong?

Pleading the Blood

Is there a right way to “plead the Blood” and a wrong way? If we do it wrong, can it bring trouble upon us? You may be a victim of some well-meaning but wrong teaching.

The phrase “plead the blood of Jesus” has been around a long time. For decades, many in the Body of Christ have embraced the revelation that this is not “begging” for God to do something, but appropriating all that Jesus has done through the shedding of His blood. The word “plead” is a legal term. Instead of guilty or not guilty you are entering a plea to God, the Just and Righteous Judge of Heaven and Earth, that the Blood of Jesus has paid the price.
The Word of God is clear. Jesus’ blood paid the price for us to receive eternal life. Our afterlife is secure, however, we are expected to turn from our sin.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
The word “confess” is the Greek word homologeĊ which means to see things the way God does. If we see our sin the way He does, we will see it as the most filthy thing on the planet. We won’t want it anywhere near us and definitely will do all we can to avoid walking into it again. The word “unrighteousness” means “the wrong of depriving another of what is his” according to Thayer’s. In plain English, it is to put us in right standing with God so we can have what is legally ours.

By removing sin from our life and seeing it the way God does, it will put us in right-standing with the Kingdom of God, so that all His promises can come into our lives. We must look to a couple of verses before this, to find out how to obtain this promise.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)
Notice that this is about walking in the light which means God reveals things by shedding light or understanding upon it. This is where we are supposed to be. Sin is darkness. So if God reveals  sin in our lives, we must walk away from that and into the light, then the Blood will remove sin, and the effects of it, from our life. We can “plead” that the Blood has paid the price and the sin is removed  from our life, once we turn from it!
God’s people used to have to sacrifice an animal to have the sin removed for a year. Jesus’ blood removes it permanently so we can be righteous (in right standing) before God.
This revelation of the blood of Jesus has allowed many to become free from attacks of the enemy when they “pleading the blood” over themselves. Once this freedom was seen, God’s children began “pleading the blood” over everything. What could be the harm? Surely if the blood could help, it would and if it couldn’t, well at least we tried… right?

Using the Blood

Now that we know “pleading the blood” is stating the payment of the blood of Jesus for our sins, how should it be used? People have been told to plead the blood over anything and everything, even demons. This shows great ignorance. Unless it is paying for a sin which we have turned from, pleading the blood does no good! Demons cannot be redeemed by the blood because they choose to stay in rebellion to God and His ways.

In recent years, God has revealed our rightful place in the Courts of Heaven where we come before Him as Judge over Heaven and Earth. When operating in the Courts, the use of the blood is put to good use, freeing God’s people!

According to the story of the Passover, the blood can be applied to a home to prevent the Destroyer (Satan) from entering. (Exodus 12:13-14)  People have taken this story and began applying the blood over:
  • neighborhoods
  • cities
  • countries
This is very presumptuous. We have no authority over things we do not own. We cannot plead the blood when a neighbor has not turned from their sin or may not even be a Christian! The blood can only pay for what belongs to the Lord. By claiming more than what is ours, we are abusing the authority given to us by Jesus. We cannot protect what is not ours, any more. Why? Let me explain:

Jeremiah 17 shows that Principalities are put into place by God over cities and areas according to the hearts of the men in that area. If the hearts of the majority of men are evil, an evil Principality will rule. The Book of Daniel, chapter 10 shows that the Archangel of God had to fight with the King of Persia to bring a message to Daniel. That wasn’t a physical king, but the Principality over the area residing in the Heavens over that country.

If we “plead the blood” over a geographical area, we are stating the blood as payment to claim it for the Kingdom of God. This is trying to take it out of the hands of the Principality who has been given the rights to it by God. That is not our place, only God can appoint and remove principalities.

Jesus showed us our place when He was given ALL authority by His Father (Matthew 28:18):

Go into all the world and preach and publish openly the good news (the Gospel) to every creature [of the whole human race]... And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe:
  1. in My name they will drive out demons;
  2. they will speak in new tongues;
  3. they will pick up serpents
  4. if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them;
  5. they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
This entire list is comprised of things that are affecting men on this earth:
  1. Demons reside in men
  2. You speak with your physical body
  3. “Pick up snakes” which are physical things in this world
  4. What we ingest will not harm us - in this world
  5. Healing happens to people's physical body
Every one of these is something that is afflicting us in this physical world - it is touching our physical realm. All power was given to Jesus, our Lord, and He gave us authority in these areas, not “all authority.” This is according to God’s Word:
“The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; but the earth hath He given to the children of men.” (Psalms 115:16)
Notice that everything in the heavens is the Lord’s and things on this Earth are what we have authority over. The Bible never tells us that we have authority in the heavens; Earth is man's domain and Heaven being God’s.

The Book of Luke shows what happened when the disciples returned after Jesus sent them out in Matthew and Mark:
Behold, I give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19 AKJV)
“All the power of the enemy” refers to what Jesus spoke just before this: it was to overcome Satan on this earth as He sent them out. Both serpents and scorpions are upon the earth.  He sent them out. The words "power" in this verse are actually two different Greek word:
  • power to tread: (exousia) This can mean the power of rule, specifically over mankind because of the power of judicial decrees.
  • all the power of the enemy: (dynamis) This is the same root word for dynamite. It is the creative power to do miracles, the power and influence that comes with wealth, the power of an army.
Before the Lord sent them out to a specific place or His purpose, He was given "all authority." Out of that authority, He dispatched the disciples with specific tasks to ready the way for His coming and empowered them to get the job done. Both serpents and scorpions are metaphorical because they didn't need to actually walk in these deadly creatures.
  • Serpents: earthly, sensual wisdom; crafty and cunning people. Jesus and John the Baptist referred to Pharisees as serpents.
  • Scorpions: these hold poison in their tail. A tale is a story. These are people who weave deadly and poisonous stories with their mouths.  It could also refer to overcoming accusations of the enemy in the Courts of Heaven.
The authority to walk over or overcome these types of attacks from people was given to those the Lord sends out to work for Him. The disciples were able to conquer the enemy because Jesus gave them power to perform miracles by healing the sick and casting out demons (from Matthew). This not only proved they were from God, but it moved Satan out of the way.

Did the disciples continue casting out all demons and performing miracles after they returned? There are zero accounts of the disciples doing these things until they were empowered at the Feast of Pentecost. After that, Paul reports when the Lord equips us with this type of authority:
For [of course] I will not venture (presume) to speak thus of any work except what Christ has actually done through me [as an instrument in His hands] to win obedience from the Gentiles, by word and deed, [Even as my preaching has been accompanied] with the power of signs and wonders, [and all of it] by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:18-19 AMPC)
The authority to overcome ALL the power of the enemy with signs, wonders, and miracles is given when Jesus sends us out to preach the Gospel to those who haven't heard it yet. This is to confirm God's love by delivering those oppressed by the Devil. We have not been given all authority to use whenever WE want for whatever WE think should be done. We must be sent out by our Lord.

Nowhere does it actually state that we have authority in the Heavens because this would contradict God's Word:
“The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; but the earth hath He given to the children of men.” (Psalms 115:16)
Using the blood of Jesus to try and take authority that is not meant for men, does not please God. The results will not be good.

Unauthorized Authority

Since starting the Courts of Heaven - Worldwide, we have found out so very much about our authority and what may happen if it is abused. If you apply the blood to a geographical area you don’t own, you are attacking that Principality's right to be there. When an attack is not authorized by God, it is an illegal attack. We call it wielding Unauthorized Authority.

The Courts of Heaven are ruled over by God who is Truth, so only actual charges are revealed. However if we attack a Principality illegally, they get to attack back, illegally. The charges against you will be bogus or false; they will not make sense to you. These charges appear if you attack with the blood or the name of Jesus when you come against Principalities, Power, or Wickedness in high places in any way.

We discovered this after taking someone to the Courts whose charges were very clearly stated, yet they definitely couldn't be applied to her or anyone in her family line. There were more than 20 words that couldn’t be placed! At that time, the Holy Spirit brought the revelation about Unauthorized Authority.

This person had been attacking Principalities, Powers and Wickedness in High Places. We went back to the Courts, she confessed and repented for this, then asked for the blood to cover it. The next day, she was healed and set free!

Since this time, we have seen many people healed and set free through a visit to the Courts where Unauthorized Authority is addressed. Many times we don’t even see the issue and have no idea they are suffering, until they tell us of the miracle at a later time.

Combating Principalities

The Word of God does tell us how to deal with Principalities, Power, and Wickedness in high places where it is mentioned in the Bible. The Book of Ephesians tells us to put on the armor of God and to STAND, not to attack, but to STAND. A couple of verses later it tells us what to do while we stand:
Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people). (Ephesians 6:18)
Praying in the Spirit is when we give the Holy Spirit, who is God, permission to pray through our mouths in a heavenly language we do not understand. We are not attacking, but God may be doing whatever He sees fit through us! Interceding for the saints means to pray for God’s people to be strengthened… against the principality who may be assaulting them.

This is what God tells us to do. Anything else is not authorized by Him and may allow the enemy to attack us or our family.

Believers' Boot Camp series

Believers' Boot Camp - Volume One
Believers' Boot Camp: Volume Two
Roadmap to Heaven
Destroying Curses
in the Courts of Heaven

Many people think of boot camp as a place you train for combat. Any veteran will tell you that basic training is about three things:
  • Knowing what weapons are available
  • Learning how to use those weapons
  • Receiving orders and following them
Believer’s Boot Camp series is a collection of books which teach us how to hear more clearly from God with the goal to ready ourselves for a face-to-face meeting with our Lord, Jesus. The series reveals the “weapons and tools” God has given us and how to use them, so we can bring God’s kingdom to Earth. Each book in the series focuses on a single topic to clearly define one tool or weapon from our Heavenly Father.

The series uses the Word of God to reveal all that He has given us through Jesus. The Bible is our instruction manual and the Holy Spirit is our guide to understanding it.

Volume 1: Why Doesn't God Speak to Me?

Eager hearts cry out, hoping for a single word to confirm that He hears us. Yet, many times the only sound is silence. Over the years I have heard several reasons why God speaks to some and not to others. One night, as I tossed and turned, I brought each of these reasons before the Lord, stating why each of them did not line up with who I thought He was.

Words rose from my soul, pleading for Him to reveal why He has remained silent when a single word from Him would mean so much to so many. For the next few hours, God used things I learned about years ago and things I had just discovered to show why He talks to some and why He doesn’t, and in demonstrative ways.

In His grace, He also showed me how people could hear more from Him. Basic instructions on how to hear more from God and how to be led by Him are included in this book. Thank you for taking time to consider the answers I received and share with you now.

Keys to Authority for Every Believer

There is untapped power that is easy for every Christian to access in the form of authority. The keys to this authority will unlock weapons we can use to free ourselves from the attacks of the enemy. We must be intimately aware of the bounds and limitations of our weapon if they are to be used effectively.

Find out about your authority:
  • Why you need it.
  • Where it comes from.
  • What you can do with it.
  • How to get more.
